Historic Trestle Train Bridge

2 Reviews

Visit the historic train bridge and gaze into the cool green waters of Putah Creek, the inspiration for the Credence Clearwater song “Green River.” In 1875 a rail and wagon bridge was built across Putah Creek to extend the rail line from Vacaville, thus bringing about the birth of Winters. Southern Pacific replaced the wood trestle bridge with this steel Pratt Truss railroad bridge in 1906.  In 2006, the 100th anniversary of the bridge, the City of Winters undertook the successful rehabilitation of the formerly dilapidated railroad bridge, now reborn for safe transit and viewing of Putah Creek by strollers and cyclists.

Located behind the Winters Community Center at 201 Railroad Avenue.
