Lake Berryessa & Monticello Dam
Located just 11 miles west of Winters on State Highway 128 is Lake Berryessa, one of the largest bodies of fresh water in California, with 165 miles of shoreline. Enjoy the waters of Lake Berryessa year round for boating, fishing, and swimming. Parks at the lake feature picnic sites with BBQ grills, water fountains and restrooms. You’ll also find miles of hiking trails and two Visitor Information Centers, one at Reclamation Headquarters and the other inside the Markley Cove store. Don’t forget to stop and take a look at the world famous Glory Hole at Monticello Dam. It is the largest spillway of its kind, its size enabling it to consume 14,400 cubic feet of water every second.
On your way to the lake be sure to stop at Berryessa Sporting Goods located on Highway 128 in Winters, for your fishing licenses and water sports needs, including inner tubes.
