Artists arrive in Winters and check in at Briggs & Co, they paint at various locations within 15 miles of downtown Winters, and at scheduled events throughout the week.

The Winters Theatre Company will be putting on “Green Gold of the Valley,” a melodrama about Winters written by the group’s own Germaine Hupe.

Performance dates: May 11th and 12th. This will be a dinner theater fundraiser for WTC, catered by the Buckhorn, so reservations are required.

The Palms Playhouse, located in the 19th century Opera House in Winters, offers off-beat intimacy and an eclectic setting for some of the world’s finest performers and musicians.

This spring we’ll see David Lindley, Tom Rigney, Shana Morrison, Mumbo Gumbo and many more.

Past performers include Richie Havens, Elvin Bishop, Greg Brown,  Richard Thompson, Billy Joe Shaver and the Austin Lounge Lizards. Seating 220 on a first-come-first-served basis, the Palms also has a dance floor and bar.  Advance ticket purchase is recommended, but tickets are available at the door if the show isn’t sold out, as well as Armadillo Records in Davis and ACE Hardware in Winters. Located in historic downtown Winters, the Palms is strolling distance from restaurants and local wine tasting rooms, to make for a full evening out.

The Winters Earthquake Festival is a family event commemorating the rise of the City of Winters from a devastating local earthquake in 1892.This August 24th will be the 20th Winters Earthquake Festival. Come for  great food and wares, rocking music and dance and a general hullabaloo on Main Street. There is entertainment all evening, beginning with children’s performances and continuing with a live band and street dancing. There are many wonderful food booths and street vendors as well as bounce houses and other fun things for kids to do.

Join us May 12, 2012, for the city-wide garage sale.    Although this “un-official” event began as the Main Street Garage Sale you will find many garage sales in neighborhoods throughout the City and even businesses with side-walk sales. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning, strolling through town looking for hidden treasures and great bargains.  Take advantage of the rest of the day to have lunch at one the local restaurants and visit the shops.
